Financial Aid

Financial aid is renewable funding that helps pay for higher education.

There are four types of financial aid:

  • Grants
  • Scholarships
  • Loans
  • Work Study

Both scholarships and grants are funding you receive. Work Study is money you earn while working, and loans are borrowed money that you will pay back in the future.

In order to receive financial aid, you must first apply using one of the financial aid applications. Students will either complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA).

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Dream Act Application Deadline is March 2nd

Students who are interested in receiving federal and state financial aid for college should apply for FAFSA. The application process is free and only takes about 20 minutes.

Both the student and parent will need to have an FSA ID to submit the application. The FSA ID gives you access to Federal Student Aid's online systems and can serve as your legal signature.

Step One: Register for a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID.

Step Two: Apply for Federal Student Aid through FAFSA.
